Pennsauken, N.J. — Macro Sensors has developed a line of 24-V DC-operated LVDT position sensors with true zero to 10-V output for easy field integration with PLCs, digital indicators, A/D converters, computer-based DAQ systems, and QC data collection systems. The true zero voltage output permits a user to know exactly when the LVDT's core is positioned at the beginning of its linear range of operation, said the company.

The SE 750 series of general-purpose DC-LVDT position sensors, using built-in electronics, provide the desirable features of AC-operated LVDTs such as frictionless operation and dynamic response with the convenience of a DC input and pre-calibrated output. These devices are said to provide highly reliable, contactless operation with high resolution, excellent repeatability, and low hysteresis.

The SE 750 series is available in nine standard full scale ranges from 0.100 inch (2.5 mm) to 20.00 inches (500 mm). Maximum linearity error is less than or equal to ±0.25% of FSO, with ±0.10% of FSO available as an option. The operating temperature range is 0°F to 160°F (-20°C to 70°C). The units operate from 24 Vdc nominal, 15 to 24 Vdc +10%, at 30 mA nominal input and provide a full-scale output of 0 to 10 Vdc over the specified linear sensing range.

These LVDT position sensors also feature a through-bore design that makes the sensor's core accessible from both ends for better mechanical support and core guidance, as well as facilitating bore cleaning if needed in an application. Stainless steel housings act as supplemental magnetic shields to reduce the effects of external AC magnetic fields, said the company. They are optionally available with Teflon bore liners and metric threaded cores. Click the link for more information about Macro Sensor's LVDTs.

The industry-standard 3/4-inch (19 mm) diameter of the LVDTs make them suitable for a range of position measurement applications including valve position sensing, hydraulic cylinder positioning and as machine tool positioners and automatic assembly equipment.

Pricing for the SE 750 series starts at $248. Delivery is from stock.
